Davis & Sons Auction News Tots to Teens Consignment Auction

Tots to Teens!

Consignment Auction

March 29th 2008 10:00am

What is consignment? Consignment means that we're auctioning/selling your items for you in exchange for a percentage of your sales.  We think you will find that an auction is a great way to make more money on your items with less work than garage sales, eBay, Craigslist, or even traditional consignment stores.

Local & National Auction News Commercial sale of Triceratops and other fossils

For sale: one dinosaur, 24ft long, 65 million years old, only the second fossil of this grandeur ever to go under the auctioneer’s hammer.

Would suit well-endowed museum or very spoilt, dino-mad, four-year-old with large bedroom. Reserve price: €500,000 (£375,000).

For the next six weeks, a two-thirds complete skeleton of a Triceratops horridus (horrible three-horned reptile) will dominate the Christie’s auction show-room in Paris. The dinosaur, with its missing bones replaced by resin replicas, will be the star attraction at what will be, literally, a “monster sale” in the French capital on 16 April.

Local & National Auction News Flawless Diamond Expected to Sell for $13 Million

It's perfect in almost every way.

The 72-carat diamond was shown off in New York before it heads to the auction block. The flawless, pear shaped, colorless diamond is so big it will fit in a teaspoon.

Officials expect this rare gem will go for as much as $13 million when it is auctioned off at Sotheby's in Hong Kong on April 10th.

The diamond was cut from an original rough diamond. Its "D" color is actually colorless and is considered the most highly valued.

Local & National Auction News Redware Sets Records In Pook & Pook Sale

Among the tens of thousands of pieces of redware created in the mid-Atlantic region during the late 18th- to mid 19th-centuries, a limited number of them bear the slip decoration now desired by collectors and even fewer are found with the rarest sgrafitto decoration. Potters were generally creating plates, loaf dishes, crocks, and jars for primarily utilitarian purposes. As such, it is no great surprise that American pieces with these ornate, originally European, sgrafitto designs, command the highest dollar from redware collectors.

Davis & Sons Auction News Auction or Estate Sale

Anonymous writes "

Auction or Estate Sale?

Estate sales do not work. They just don't.

Often referred to as a "tag sale" or "conducted garage sale", these types of sales may be a solution for those who are not moving from their home and just need to sell items for quick cash or more room. For those who are leaving, even a multi-day estate sale cannot sell all that an auction can in one day.
